We will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Chemistry Laboratory (URCOM, Organic and Macromolecular Chemistry Research Unit) of Le Havre Normandy University from May 29 to 31, 2024.

Let's take advantage of this excellent opportunity to do a short history because, since its birth in 1999, URCOM has grown a lot! It obtained its first label in 2000, became a Reception Team and is now a Research Unit (UR 3221). He is a member of the INC3M Research Federation (FR3038 CNRS) and is also part of the Carnot I2C Institute and the XL-CHEM University Research School. Over time it has grown and now has a team of 14 permanent teacher-researchers (5 PU and 9 MCF), 4 BIATSS, a secretary, as well as around twenty contract workers (postdocs, IR, IE, ATER) and all dynamic and motivated doctoral students.

Our research is recognized regionally, nationally and internationally by the academic worlds (ANR, Norman Interest Networks "RIN", CPER, FEDER, Interreg, XL-CHEM, etc.) and industry (CIFRE, FUI, collaborative contracts, Pôle Cosmetic Valley ) and range from metallic or organic catalysis, synthesis/reactivity/extraction of nitrogenous, sulfurous and phosphorous heterocycles, chemistry and physicochemical and sensory analysis of complex colloidal systems or even the study of the interactions of cosmetic formulations with the skin.

With the age of reason came a greater awareness of societal expectations. This is how URCOM applies itself even more to the development of ever more eco-responsible approaches centred on the valorization of renewable resources by green chemistry.

In addition, our Laboratory is pleased to inform you that since January 2023 it has been in close contact with an analytical experimental platform called "ACCéS" (Chemical, Cosmetic and Sensory Analysis) which is supported by the University of Le Havre Normandy.
